As election fever reaches boiling point, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Monday that he needs not four but just one government to change the fate of the crisis-hit country.

The PPP leader – candidate for the post of Prime Minister has dealt a veiled blow to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, who is looking for a fourth shot at power after being defeated by the court and acquitted.

Speaking at a power meeting in Sahiwal, Bilawal said, “I don’t want four chances; I want one chance. If you give me a chance, I will change the destiny of the country and solve all the problems the country is facing.”

Citing rising inflation, unemployment, and poverty, the PPP leader said his party was the only solution to these problems.

“Pakistan is at a stage of default,” Bilawal said, adding that there was a “division” within the society.

The former foreign minister warned that hostile forces could use “divisiveness” to carry out their nefarious plans. “I am running to bury the politics of hate and division.”

Remembering his mother and Pakistan’s first elected female Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in a suicide bombing in Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007, Bilawal said: “Today Bibi Shaheed’s philosophy is in greater demand than ever before. “

Highlighting the achievements of former Prime Minister and President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was hanged in a murder case on April 4, 1979, Bilawal said he decided that they should do what ‘Quaid-e-Awam’ did.
