Election 2024: Chahat Fateh Ali Khan announces candidacy for a NA seat

Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, a British-Pakistani national who went viral on social media with his unique singing videos, has decided to contest the general elections as an independent candidate.

Chahat has declared his candidacy for the National Assembly (NA) seat.

To surprise his fans again, Chahat, real name Kashif Rana, filed nominations from Lahore NA-128 as an independent candidate.

He became an internet singing sensation with his unique videos under the name ‘Chahat Fateh Ali Khan’ and attracted millions of internet users.

Earlier this year, he also sang the anthems of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8 and ICC World Cup 2023 in his own style.

Chahat was once a top-class cricketer in Pakistan.

He was part of the Lahore squad in the 1983-84 season for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He played two first-class games, scoring 16 runs in three innings.

He then moved to Great Britain in search of a better future. He also played club cricket there for 12 years.

The general elections are scheduled for February 8 next year, while the deadline for filing nominations was December 24 (Sunday). In the next phase, the Election Commission of Pakistan will start reviewing the documents.
